UNIT 04 · LESSON 10
Here, there, and where
Say where someone or something is.
By the end of this lessonSay where someone is using li vir, li wir, and li ku.
The idea
Li vir means “here” and li wir means “there”. Both end in a consonant, so they take the same to-be endings as baş: im, î, e, and in. Li ku asks “where”; it ends in a vowel, so it takes the vowel-final forms yî and ye instead.
See it in a sentence
Ez li vir im.I am here.
Tu li wir î.You are there.
Ew li ku ye?Where is he / she?
Em li vir in.We are here.
Compare Ez li vir im (I am here) with Tu li ku yî? (Where are you?) — the ending depends on the sound right before it, not on the meaning.
