UNIT 05 · LESSON 13
Things you will do
Talk about tomorrow with dê.
By the end of this lessonBuild simple future sentences with dê and the verb.
The idea
The future puts dê (will) before the verb, and the verb takes bi- + present stem + person ending: bixwînim, bixwînî, bixwîne, bixwînin. So Ez dê bixwînim means “I will read”. Dê stays the same for every person; only the ending on the verb changes.
See it in a sentence
Ez dê bixwînim.I will read.
Tu dê bixwînî.You will read.
Ew dê bixwîne.He / she will read.
Sibê em dê bixwînin.Tomorrow we will read.
After a pronoun, dê is often shortened: ez ê, tu yê, ew ê, em ê, hûn ê. Both ways are common. Sibê means “tomorrow”.
